Work With Katie | Certified Divorce Coach

Katie was so helpful and supportive during a trying time in my life. Her knowledge and recommendations helped the divorce process go smoothly and quickly. Thank you!!” — Victoria S.

Why Should I Hire a Divorce Coach?

You’re going through with the divorce. You may feel depressed, sad, and rejected. You may be excited for what lies ahead. Or — a little bit of both, depending on the day. You may have been blindsided, or you may be the one who asked for it.

No matter where you are, you want to avoid the common pitfalls that derail people every day: confusion, overwhelm, wasted attorney fees, setbacks from legal misunderstandings, and decisions made in the heat of emotion instead of with a clear head. That’s what a divorce coach is for. And that’s exactly what working with Katie looks like.

I went from feeling overwhelmed to feeling focused and in control. She has vast knowledge, a caring attitude, and a practical approach. There’s a saying, ‘Luck favors the prepared.’ Katie was my lucky charm — she prepared me for the biggest decisions of my life.” — Jessica D.

“Her wealth of knowledge took me from being stuck in fear and naivety for seven months to getting my divorce decree swiftly and peacefully shortly after hiring her. I’m convinced I’d be stuck in the same pattern had I not hired Katie.” — Kayla E.

“I am so grateful to have had Katie coach me during my divorce journey. Her wealth of knowledge took me from a point of being stuck in fear & naivety for seven months after asking for a divorce to getting my divorce decree swiftly and in a peaceful manner shortly after hiring her. She was professional in the advice and knowledge she had to offer but sympathetic & personable in her words and actions. Not only did she help me find the lawyer that was right for me but also helped with the tough conversations with my now ex, debrief legal documents and aided me in finding the silver lining in moments of doubt. I’m convinced I’d be stuck in the same pattern had I not hired Katie and 100% recommend her for anyone going through the process! ~ Kayla E.

I hired Katie to be another set of eyes and ears, to reassure me that I was not overlooking anything. She ended up exceeding this expectation! She gently nudged and kept me on task. Frequently Asked Questions

The discovery call is a free 30-minute conversation where we talk about where you are in the process, what is feeling hardest right now, and what you actually need. I am not going to pitch you or pressure you. By the end of the call, we will both know whether working together makes sense. If it does, I will explain exactly what that looks like. If it does not, I will tell you honestly and point you in the right direction. There is no obligation and nothing to prepare — just show up and talk.

It depends entirely on where you are when we start and how complex your situation is. Some clients work with me for two to three months — they need help getting organized, finding the right attorney, and preparing for initial conversations. Others stay with me through the full divorce process, which in Illinois typically runs six months to a year. I do not lock you into a set number of sessions. We move at the pace your divorce requires, and you have full access to me the entire time we are working together.

No. Some of my clients come to me having already filed. Others come to me still asking “is this the right decision?” You do not need a firm answer before reaching out. What you do need is a sense that something has to change and a willingness to get informed about what your options actually look like. I will not push you toward divorce and I will not talk you out of it. My job is to help you think clearly so whatever decision you make, you make it from a grounded place rather than a panicked one.

Yes. Everything you tell me stays between us. I do not share your information with anyone — not your attorney, not your spouse, not anyone else — without your explicit permission. The only exception would be if you disclosed something that indicated immediate danger to yourself or someone else, which is standard for any coaching or counseling relationship. Beyond that, what you say in our sessions stays in our sessions. You can speak freely.

Then this is exactly the right time to call. You do not need to start at the beginning to work with me. I can step in at any point — whether you just received paperwork that makes no sense, your attorney has gone quiet, mediation is coming up in two weeks, or you are three months in and completely overwhelmed. We assess where you are on our first call and I get up to speed quickly. Divorce moves fast sometimes, and so do I.
